ProPresenter is my favorite option as presentation software for churches. As a worship leader for over 10 years and the owner of a business that services churches, I have worked extensively with them in the area of media development.
When looking at presentation software, the biggest concern for churches should always be the ease of use for their staff and volunteers. ProPresenter looks great visually and has a format where you can easily setup a presentation for Sunday morning service so that whomever may be running the show can easily click through from slide to slide during the service. You can import videos and pictures into ProPresenter and use them whenever you would like or you can leave them in a folder on the computer and drag and drop files as you need them. The software can manage audio files, DVD's, import powerpoint presentations easily, and more. ProPresenter also works very well with SongSelect from CCLI and I always strongly suggest to our customers that they pay their CCLI licensing fee and utilize SongSelect. When SongSelect and ProPresenter are linked together, it can save a lot of time setting up presentation slides because you can easily import lyrics using the SongSelect button at the top of the main page. Once the lyrics are imported you can edit them to put more or less words on each slide, change fonts, size, color, or many other elements.
Other features include...
The last feature that I will mention is what is called a "rear confidence monitor." You setup your system to use this feature on a back screen for your on-stage team to use. It displays a basic image, black words on a white screen or the opposite so that your team can easily see them from the stage. It shows the next slide so that the team can see the lyrics before they appear to the congregation, and it will display messages for the team onstage as well as a few other features.
See the full list of features on the ProPresenter website HERE. A single license is $399 and a site license is $799. A single license allows you to put the software on two computers, but only use the software in one location at a time, you cannot use both at the same time. Call us for a quote on an entire setup including an Imac, Mac mini, or Mac laptop system pre-loaded with the software.

It's a sad season for those in the video projection industry. MItsubishi has announced that they are leaving the consumer electronics market. "We have been sustaining losses, so we decided it’s about time we exit the market,” said James Chan, vice president of marketing at Mitsubishi Electric Visual Solutions America. “We want to focus on stronger businesses and make them even stronger." (AVnetwork.com)
We have been installing Mitsubishi electronics almost exclusively for the past several years. One of the main reasons is because they have had one of the best return policies in the electronics market. Another reason we always liked them is because the company is very good to their re-sellers. Selling projectors is a tough business, because it's difficult to beat internet pricing. Today, as I researched replacement products for our favorite Mitsubishi projectors, I came across one that looked promising. I looked at the pricing and the small difference between the M.A.P. (manufacturers advertised price) and my cost was not great, but enough to make a small profit. So I pulled the projector up on the manufacturers website to look at the specs in more detail and got a shock...Their own selling price online was well below my cost AND even below their own MAP pricing! We will definitely not be selling that brand. I have learned that when a company protects its pricing for its re-sellers, then it also takes care of its customers and stan
DON'T FRET, those of you who still have Mitsubishi projectors, they will continue to service all of their products . Chan says the company will continue to honor warranties until they expire. Mitsubishi also will maintain its parts centers and support lines. “It’s basically business as usual for the support and service part," Chan said. "People don’t need to worry about not having [any place] to go for support. The authorized service and telephone support will still be there.”
We have some new suppliers all lined up including brands like Panasonic, NEC, and every other brand name of projector you could want or need, we can get it.
Imagine you are at a live concert event and as the excitement builds, a person approaches a microphone on stage…”tap, tap, tap…Is this on?” and the crowd goes wild in anticipation of what will happen next. Can you guess how many times that microphone has been tapped? How many more times it will be tapped? More than likely that microphone is a Shure SM58.
Created by Shure in 1966, the Shure SM58 vocal microphone has been a necessity for live sound applications all over the world even through today. On their website, Shure claims that the SM58 is the “most popular microphone in the world.” Used by almost every singer at one time or another, that is a title that has been tested and tried since 1966.
One of the main reasons that Shure is able to boast about the SM58 is the durability of the product. In my experience, the microphone can be dropped, stepped on, wires loose, and even wet and it still bounces back. Even when there are repairs that need to be made, Shure has a reputation for being reasonable in their repair costs and offer a quick turnaround time. They stand behind their product and they have made little changes to the microphone over the years. In a live sound setting, the microphone works with any voice range and can be EQ’d fairly easily with very little feedback problems. According to Shure’s own website, it is tuned to accentuate the warmth and clarity of lead and backing vocals. Even in extreme conditions, the SM58 is tailored to target the main sound source while minimizing background noise.
Another reason to use the 58 is because of its fantastic price tag. In the last ten years the price tag has stayed pretty much around $99. In addition to this, Shure has offered some recent options you can add to your purchase like an on and off switch, a USB adapter, or a cable. The quality you receive for the price tag is virtually unbeatable. On a recent Prosoundweb forum, a longtime SM58 user responded to the question, “Why do you use the Shure SM58?” He replied, ”There are something like 83 thousand bazillion of them out there and all but 3 of them still work, no one looks at a 58 and says "What mic is that, is it any good?", they don't cost much, and they say Shure on them.” If you are searching for that perfect microphone for a live sound application, you don’t have to look any further, the Shure SM58 is an industry standard.
These guys are one of the hottest products on the market right now. There are three main reasons why churches are loving them...
In addition to these great options, this mixer still has all of the fun stuff a normal digital mixer would have. It has the built-in effects, the built in EQ's, and the memory for saving all of your settings to memory banks.
So many options for such a great price. The 32-channel mixer costs $3999, that is a bargain basement price for all of the features you get. When you start looking at the cost of a digital mixer, an in-ear monitor system, and a multi-channel recording system, a church could spend well over $15,000 for all three. With this system you get all of it in one package. Just the cost of an Aviom In-Ear Monitoring starter package can cost about $4500 by itself.
A few things that some may consider negatives are the fact that the system only works with Apple smart products and it has to be connected to a computer (preferably Mac) in order to use some of the features I mentioned above. But even if you add an IMac ($1599) to the system and purchase ipad minis ($299 each) for your worship team to use, you would still come out significantly cheaper than trying to purchase an in-ear monitoring system.

Technology has advanced so much in the last few years, it is only natural for churches to learn to incorporate these new innovations into their worship services. If you wonder why its so important, then lets begin by looking at a few statistics that may surprise you…
According to the Nielson company:
99% of US households own at least one TV
In US households, the TV is on an average of 6 hours per day.
The youth in America watch TV an average of 1500 hours per year
According to research by Pew Internet
Over 69% of teens 12-17 have their own computer
80% of teens in the US that are 12-17 have a game console
The percentage of adults in the US who owned some sort of tablet computer (such as an Ipad) grew from 3% to 8% in one year
As you can see in these statistics, TV, Video, electronic media, video games, and the internet are a normal way of life for this generation, they are used to stimulation that comes in all forms electronic, why should church be any different? As we know from past history, change is inevitable and although some may see these electronic mediums as distractions or negative influences, they can and must be used for good. At Carters Audio Video, we understand all forms of technology that are available today, including:
Computer imaging systems (such as Mediashout)
and much more…

LG has unleashed a fantastic new line of smart TV's this year, they are great to look at and are full of awesome features. Exactly what is a "smart TV" and why would I want one?
A smart TV will open up with a home page screen that has several "Apps" available. These apps can stream movies, music, TV shows, and more right to your TV. For example, Netflix, is one of the apps available on an LG smart TV. Netflix is a paid monthly service, you go to their website and sign-up for one of their accounts which starts at $7.99 per month for streaming. Once you have your account, you can sign into the TV and put your account information in and watch all of the movies and TV shows that Netflix has available. In addition to the Netflix app, there are also several more such as Hulu, Vudu, and many others. Vudu, for example is a movie rental program, once you sign up for an account with them then you just pay as you rent movies. There are also other apps like Facebook and Twitter that you can access through the smart TV, as well as many others. The LG smart TV can also access the internet with an online search for internet browsing from your TV and it comes with an app that will work the TV through a smart tablet or smartphone.
As you can see, owning an LG smart TV can open up a whole new world of TV watching and online experiences. We have had customers who only purchase the TV and don't even have a cable box or Blu-ray player, they only use the apps to watch movies and TV shows. The cost of a smart TV can be a more than one without these features, but the added benefits can outweigh the cost. If you currently have an older TV, you also have the option of purchasing an LG smart Blu-ray player that will allow you to access the same features on your current TV. <p> For more information call Carters Audio Video today 479-646-5901. See our next blog post for information on the LG smart remote and how it will enhance your smart TV experience...
Note: In order for this system to work you have to have a good internet connection and the system works best if the internet is hard-wired to the TV.
